Tottenham Handed Major Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Madrid But 2 Others Ruled Out
Tottenham Hotspur have mixed team news ahead of their clash with European Champions Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur will look to bring home a positive result when they take on European Champions Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.
Speaking on the flight to Spain, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino offered a team news and injury update ahead of the game and it’s mixed news for the north Londoners.
Let’s start with the good news and Pochettino has confirmed that Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele could be involved after travelling with the rest of the squad to Madrid this afternoon.
Rose hasn’t featured for ten months since sustaining serious knee ligament damage back in January but the left-back returned to full training two weeks ago.
After spending so long on the sidelines, Pochettino feels Rose might not be ready to start so the England international is expected to be named among the subs tomorrow night but he’ll be a great option to have from the bench.
Dembele on the other hand has been struggling with a foot injury in recent weeks but the midfielder could now be back in the starting eleven after returning to full fitness.
The Belgian international’s availability will come as a major boost to Tottenham as Victor Wanyama remains out with an on-going knee injury that’s hampered him all season.
In a double blow, Pochettino also confirmed that Ben Davies is set to miss out against Madrid due to an illness that kept him out of the weekend win over Bournemouth.

If Rose is only deemed fit enough for a place on the bench tomorrow night then Pochettino has got a huge decision to make at left-back with Davies still out.
Jan Vertonghen filled-in at the weekend and is expected to continue if Pochettino goes with a back four again, however, it will be interesting to see who comes in if the Spurs boss switches to a 3-4-2-1 formation at the Bernabeu.
