Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for AC Milan forward Andre Silva as Arsene Wenger prepares for life without Alexis Sanchez next season, according to The Sun.
Sanchez is in the final year of his contract and has made it clear he won’t be signing an extension at the Emirates so he’s virtually guaranteed not to be at the club next season.
The Chilean international is being tipped to join Man City in January after coming close to joining Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer so Wenger is already lining-up potential replacements.
One player seemingly on the bosses radar is Andre Silva as The Sun claim Arsenal could renew their interest in the Portuguese international if he becomes available at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old made his name at Porto after coming through their youth ranks and the newspaper says we were keen to sign him last summer before he joined AC Milan in a £33m deal.
Silva’s time at the San Siro hasn’t gone according to plan as Milan have lost four of their last six matches and sit mid-table in Serie A following Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to rivals Inter Milan.
With the likes of Napoli, Juventus, Lazio, Roma and Inter all looking strong this season it’s going to be a tough task for AC to qualify for the Champions League – which was a minimum requirement set by their big-spending new owners.
The Sun claim that should Vincenzo Montella’s men fail to secure a top-four finish this season then the owners will look to cash-in on some of their key assets in order to make up for the loss of earnings – particularly with the club about to enter in to a sponsorship deal with PUMA that’s worth half of their current deal with Adidas.
Silva is named as a player likely to become available again next summer and it seems Arsenal could be the beneficiaries as the youngster would be an excellent long-term replacement for Sanchez.

The Portuguese star has scored four goals in his six appearances in Italy so far and is capable of playing as a central striker or behind the front-man so he’d certainly add to our attacking options if he did come to north London next summer.
