Maribor v Liverpool: Latest Team News, Trio Recalled, Match Prediction + Betting
Liverpool take on Maribor in Slovenia this evening. Here is our preview with team news, line-up, betting tips and prediction
Liverpool will be looking to register their first win of the Champions League group stages when they take on Maribor in Slovenia tonight.
The Merseysiders have taken just two points from their opening two Group E games so far having been held to draws by Sevilla and CSKA Moscow.
Those results have left Liverpool sitting joint second in the table – two points behind Sevilla – so Jurgen Klopp knows it’s vital they come home with all three points this evening.
Anything but victory will leave the Reds facing an uphill battle to book their place in the knockout stages of the competition and they should be confident against the Slovenian minnows.
Liverpool warmed up for the game with an encouraging 0-0 draw against Manchester United which saw the Reds dominate for long periods so Klopp will be hoping his players convert their chances tonight.
Team news
Klopp insists he will resist the temptation to make too many changes but one player who is certain to get a recall is Loris Karius as the German will replace Simon Mignolet between the sticks.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is also tipped to come in for Joe Gomez at right-back while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is in-line to make his first Champions League start for the club.
Adam Lallana has stepped-up his recovery from a long-term thigh problem but this game still comes too soon while Sadio Mane and Nathaniel Clyne remain out with hamstring injuries.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Maribor 0-2 Liverpool: The hosts have never kept a clean sheet in their previous eight games against English opposition and they’ve only ever won one of their 14 Champions League group games – which came way back in 1999. Liverpool haven’t won any of their last seven Champions League games but I can see that run ending this evening with the Reds taking home a 2-0 victory.
Betting Tips
Liverpool are 1/6 to win the game with the bookmakers but we can get new customers enhanced odds of 16/1 on the visitors – just click here to take advantage of these crazy odds [winning paid in free bets, max stake £1, T&C’s apply].
However, here are some other bets I like the look of:
- Both teams to score NO at: 4/6 – a £10 bet would return £16
- Exact score of 0-2 Liverpool win at: 5/1 – a £10 bet would return £60
