Everton Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Arsenal Clash But Quartet Remain Out
Ronald Koeman has confirmed a double injury boost ahead of Everton’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Everton will look to halt an alarming run of results when they welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Ronald Koeman has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given Evertonfc.com a team news update.
The Toffees boss was pleased to confirm a major double boost with midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy passed fit and available for selection this weekend.
Schneiderlin was forced off midway through the second half of Everton’s 2-1 Europa League defeat to Lyon last night after sustaining a leg injury in the 57th minute.
The Frenchman hasn’t been able to train with the rest of the squad today but Koeman has told the clubs website that the midfielder is expected to be available to face Arsenal.
McCarthy is yet to make a single appearance for the first team this season due to a knee injury but he played 45 minutes for the Under-23s against Wolfsburg on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen whether Koeman considers McCarthy fit to start this weekend but the Everton boss has confirmed he’ll be in the squad to face the Gunners.
Koeman is also set to recall three key first team players on Sunday with Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Wayne Rooney all expected to start after being rested against Lyon last night.
However, Everton will continue to be without the services of Yannick Bolasie and Ramiro Funes Mori due to long term knee injuries while Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley are also still out.
