Liverpool v Huddersfield: Team News | Starting XI’s | Match Prediction | Betting
Liverpool play host to Huddersfield at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Here is our preview including team news, line-ups and prediction
Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s disappointment when they take on Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Merseysiders slumped to a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday with several defensive and goalkeeping errors leading to their downfall at Wembley.
The defeat has left the Reds heading in to this weekend’s action sitting ninth in the Premier League table and 12 points adrift of leaders Manchester City so Jurgen Klopp desperately needs a win tomorrow.
He’ll be up against his close friend David Wagner – who’ll take his Huddersfield side to Anfield in confident mood having beaten Manchester United 2-1 last weekend.
Team news
Philippe Coutinho is a major doubt for the game after picking up an abductor problem so Klopp will have to make a late decision over whether to risk the Brazilian from the start.
The Liverpool boss will also have to make a tough decision over whether to drop Dejan Lovren following his horror-show at Spurs with Ragnar Klavan on stand-by to come in to the defence.
Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane have been pencilled in to return after the next international break but for now they remain out along with Nathaniel Clyne.
Huddersfield forward Collin Quaner is back in contention after recovering from a calf injury while Elias Kachunga is also available after making a swift recovery from a back problem.
However, Kasey Palmer (hamstring), Michael Hefele (Achilles) and Jon Gorenc Stankovic (knee) are still out.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Liverpool 2-1 Huddersfield: The Reds have an excellent record against newly-promoted sides having lost just one of their last 42 home league against them so that should give Klopp’s side some confidence. Huddersfield will no doubt sit back and hit Liverpool on the break and I do think they’ll cause some problems to a fragile defence, but the hosts should have too much fire-power even if Coutinho misses out.
