West Ham v Liverpool: Team News | Expected Line-Ups | Match Prediction | Betting
Liverpool take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday. Here is our preview including team news, line-up and prediction
Liverpool will be looking to close in on the top four with a positive result when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Reds head in to the game off the back of a 3-0 victory over Maribor in the Champions League that kept them on course to qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
However, it’s Premier League matters that are the focus tomorrow as the Merseysiders look to build on last weekend’s 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town which saw them close to within three points of the top four.
Victory in the capital would see Jurgen Klopp’s men go level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea and put the pressure on ahead of their clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
West Ham usually up their game when the big clubs come to town and they certainly need to as last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace leaves Slaven Bilic’s side sitting just one point above the drop zone.
Team News
Liverpool will be without Philippe Coutinho as the playmaker is once again ruled out with an adductor injury that’s kept him out of the last two matches.
Dejan Lovren remains a doubt with a thigh injury that he sustained in the warm-up last weekend while Gini Wijnaldum is also set to miss out with an ankle injury that forced him off in midweek.
Sadio Mane is back in full training after making a swift recovery from a hamstring injury but the best he can hope for is a place on the bench after being out for the last month.
Nathaniel Clyne has suffered a set-back in his recovery from a back injury but Joe Gomez should get a recall at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold dropping out.
West Ham have problems in defence as Pablo Zabaleta is ruled out through suspension but Sam Byram, Jose Fonte and James Collins are all injured.
Michail Antonio has also been ruled out with a hamstring injury, however, Aaron Cresswell has shaken off a dead leg while Winston Reid should be fit after recovering from a knock.
Expected Line-Ups
Predicted Score
West Ham 1-2 Liverpool: The Hammers have a solid record against Liverpool having won three of their last six league meetings but the hosts have problems at the back. Klopp’s side also have their own injury concerns but the Liverpool squad is far stronger and I think their firepower up front will be the difference tomorrow.
