Tottenham Hotspur suffered something of a Champions League hangover as they struggled to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley this afternoon.
Having beaten reigning European champions Real Madrid 3-1 in midweek, Tottenham were expected to see-off bottom club Palace with relative ease.
However, Mauricio Pochettino lost Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli due to injury so the team looked a little disjointed for much of the game today.
Palace were dangerous and No.3 goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga came to Tottenham’s rescue as he saved well to deny Scott Dann and Andros Townsend to keep the scores level.
Wilfried Zaha then missed a golden chance to give Palace the lead as he scuffed wide with the goal at his mercy after rounding Gazzaniga and Spurs made the visitors pay just minutes later.
After a scramble in the area the ball fell to Hueng-min Son on the edge of the area and the South Korean international curled home a lovely left-footed shot to make it 1-0 in the 64th minute.
Palace pushed for an equaliser but Spurs held on to secure a vital three points which sees them move level on points with second-placed Manchester United.
