Liverpool vs Southampton: Team News | Expected Line-Ups | Prediction | Betting
Liverpool take on Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Here is our preview including team news, line-up and prediction
Liverpool will be looking to continue their push for the top four with a win when they take on Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds went in to the international break after beating West Ham 4-1 at the London Stadium earlier this month which came off the back of consecutive 3-0 wins over Maribor and Huddersfield.
It means Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League table and three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea so Jurgen Klopp will hope to close the gap with a win tomorrow.
They’ll be up against a Southampton side that are 11th in the table after winning just three of their 11 games so far therefore boss Mauricio Pellegrino will be desperate to come away with a positive result against his former club.
Team news
Liverpool have been handed a major boost with Adam Lallana set to return to the squad after finally recovering from a thigh injury that’s hampered him since the start of the season – although a place on the bench is likely tomorrow.
Philippe Coutinho is also fit after shaking off an adductor injury while Sadio Mane will be in contention after overcoming a hamstring scare that he picked up on international duty.
Jordan Henderson is also available again after missing the West Ham game with a thigh injury so Klopp has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose form with Nathaniel Clyne his only major concern.
Southampton will be without midfielder Mario Lemina due to an ankle injury but Steven Davis, Shane Long and Manolo Gabbiadini are all available.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Liverpool 2-0 Southampton: The Saints actually have an excellent recent record against Liverpool having won three and drawn the other two of their last five meetings in all competitions. However, I see that unbeaten run will come to an end this weekend as I think Liverpool will be too strong at Anfield with the likes of Coutinho, Salah and Mane all fit and firing again.
