Arsenal & Liverpool Told They Can Sign Ligue 1 Star In January

Arsenal and Liverpool are set for a transfer battle after Paris Saint-Germain informed the duo they are ready to sell Julian Draxler in January, according to the Mirror.

Draxler only joined PSG less than a year ago after completing a £28m move from Wolfsburg last January having emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in German football.

The 24-year-old attacker enjoyed an encouraging first six months in France having scored 10 goals in his 25 appearances during the second half of last season.

However, his place is now under threat following the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer with Draxler often being asked to play in a deeper midfield role when he is picked to start.

PSG are under pressure to balance the books and the Mirror claim the Ligue 1 giants are now ready to offload some players during the January transfer window to help them meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

The newspaper says PSG have now made contact with Arsenal and Liverpool to inform the Premier League duo that Draxler is one of the players they are ready to sell.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Draxler for some time with reports just last week suggesting they had renewed their interest in signing the German international this winter.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is on the look-out for attacking reinforcements with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both set to leave when their contracts expire so Draxler would be a top class replacement if the Gunners could lure him to north London.

However, Liverpool will provide stiff competition as Jurgen Klopp could also be eyeing his compatriot as a possible replacement for Philippe Coutinho amid constant speculation linking the Brazilian with Barcelona.
