Liverpool take on Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium this evening. Here is our preview including team news, line-up and prediction
Liverpool will look to keep the pressure on the top four with a win when they take on Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium this evening.
The Reds saw a three-match winning run come to an end after Willian came off the bench to score a late equaliser to earn Chelsea a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday night.
That result has left Liverpool sitting sixth in the table but with just three points separating them from third-placed Chelsea it couldn’t be tighter in the race for Champions League qualification.
Stoke come in to the game having lost to Crystal Palace at the weekend which leaves them 15th and just three points above the drop zone so Mark Hughes will be desperate to get a positive result this evening.
Team news
Liverpool will hand a late fitness test to Dejan Lovren as the centre-back is still feeling the effects of a back injury but Emre Can is fit to return after missing the Chelsea game with a muscle problem.
Jurgen Klopp is set to recall Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino after they were surprisingly dropped at the weekend with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Sturridge expected to make way.
Gini Wijnaldum could also come in for James Milner while Klopp could opt to freshen things up further with Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold pushing for recalls.
Stoke hope to have Ramadan Sobhi fit despite the winger picking up an ankle injury at the weekend while Saido Berahino is also back in contention. However, Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron remain sidelined.
Expected line-ups
Predicted Score
Stoke 1-2 Liverpool: The visitors have won five of their last six meetings with Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium and the Potters have been really struggling of late. Liverpool can be inconsistent but when their attack is on form they are devastating. I do think it will be a competitive game tonight but fancy Liverpool to edge it.
