Tottenham are lining-up a move to sign West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini during the January transfer window, according to ESPN.
Lanzini joined the Hammers on loan from Al Jazira Club in 2015 and did enough during his first season in English football to earn a permanent switch to the London Stadium the following year.
The former Argentinean U20 international continued to impress after scoring 8 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season which caught the attention of several clubs throughout Europe.
Tottenham were among the clubs to be linked in the summer and it looks like Mauricio Pochettino is ready to renew his interest in the South American attacking midfielder.
ESPN claim sources close to both Spurs and West Ham have informed them that Tottenham are eyeing a January swoop for Lanzini after Pochettino made him a prime transfer target.
The report says the Spurs boss wants to add more creativity to his talented squad and is ready to test West Ham’s resolve to keep hold of Lanzini this winter.
No doubt David Moyes will be reluctant to lose the 24-year-old mid-season, especially with the Hammers battling to avoid relegation, but it would be difficult for Lanzini to turn down the chance to sign for Tottenham.
The north Londoners started the season in excellent form but they’ve dropped out of the top four after taking just one point from their last three games and Pochettino has admitted some of his players look jaded.
Lanzini’s arrival would ease the pressure on the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli as he would offer Pochettino another top class option in attack during what’s going to be a busy season.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Tottenham are able to tempt West Ham in to a sale but I think Lanzini would be a solid purchase for the north Londoners if they could get a deal agreed.
