Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Quadruple Injury Boost But Trio Ruled Out
Jurgen Klopp has offered a team news update ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Bournemouth with the latest on several members of his squad.
Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Bournemouth at Dean Court on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered a team news and injury update with the latest on several members of his squad.
The Reds boss has confirmed that Joel Matip is back running outside after recovering from a muscle injury that’s kept him out in recent games but this weekend’s trip to the south coast will come too soon for the defender.
Nathaniel Clyne is also still unavailable as he continues to work his way back from a long-term back injury while the Reds will have to assess Daniel Sturridge to see if he’s ready to return from a tight hamstring injury that kept him out of the draw with West Brom in midweek.
There was a more positive update on Simon Mignolet as the Belgian international is back in contention after recovering from a minor knock that kept him on the bench against the Baggies.
Klopp also had a positive update on Adam Lallana as the midfielder is fit to return to the squad this weekend after recovering from a muscle injury that’s hampered him in recent games.
The Liverpool also revealed that James Milner, Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson are carrying minor knocks but the trio are expected to be passed fit for the trip to Bournemouth on Sunday.
However, the Merseysiders will have to make-do without Alberto Moreno as the full-back isn’t expected back for a number of weeks due to an ankle injury.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:
“Joel is on a good way, running outside. [He is] not available for the weekend, of course. The same for Clyney,” the manager told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“Daniel, we have to wait [to see] how he improved since yesterday. [We have] a few little things, with Joe [Gomez], knocks from the game. Joe had a little bit before, that’s why we left him out. But he should be OK.
“Millie and Robbo, a few knocks from the game, should be OK. Adam is back in full and normal training; if nothing changed since yesterday then he will be ready for the squad at least.
“[Moreno] has no chance for Sunday. I saw him yesterday on the bike – good but not good enough. And Simon [Mignolet] is OK again.”
Liverpool head in to the weekend action sitting fourth in the Premier League table but just one point separating them from seventh-placed Arsenal it’s vital the Merseysiders come back with a positive result from Dean Court on Sunday.
