Tottenham take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon. Here is a preview with the latest team news, line-ups and prediction
Tottenham will look to close in on the top four with a win when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs have seen their title hopes dashed after a run of just two wins in their last seven games has resulted in them tumbling down the Premier League table in recent weeks.
The north Londoners head in to the weekend action sitting seventh in the division after being thrashed 4-1 by run-away league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Depending on the result of tonight’s game between fifth-placed Arsenal and fourth-placed Liverpool they could find themselves six points adrift of the top four so Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to come away with a win.
However, that’s not going to be easy as Burnley are enjoying a superb campaign with the Clarets currently one point above Tottenham in sixth place having amassed 32 points from their 18 games so far.
Team news
Spurs welcome Davinson Sanchez back in to the squad after he completed a three-game suspension but Toby Alderweireld is still weeks away from returning from a hamstring injury.
Victor Wanyama stepped-up his recovery from a knee injury by returning to full training this week but the trip to Turf Moor will come too soon for the midfielder.
Burnley will be without James Tarkowski after the defender was slapped with a three-game ban for violent conduct following a clash with Glenn Murray during the draw at Brighton last weekend.
Jon Walters is also out with a knee injury while Tom Heaton is ruled out with a shoulder problem and Stephen Ward is a doubt due to a knee injury.
Expected Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Burnley 1-2 Tottenham: The visitors have a solid record against Burnley having lost just one of their last seven league meetings but Sean Dyche’s side have lost just one of their last eight home matches so it’s going to be a tricky game for Spurs. However, Tarkowski will be a huge miss for the hosts so I can see Tottenham edging it tomorrow.
