Arsenal & Tottenham In Battle To Sign £60m French Attacker
Arsenal and Tottenham will face stiff competition from Juventus and Bayern Munich for the signing of unsettled Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial
The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the race for Anthony Martial hots-up…
Arsenal and Tottenham will face stiff competition from Juventus and Bayern Munich for the signing of unsettled Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial, according to a report in the Express.
Martial was considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in European football when he joined United from Monaco in the summer of 2015 and he enjoyed an encouraging start to life in Manchester. The 22-year-old has provided 36 goals and 27 assists in his 131 appearances in all competitions so far at Old Trafford, however, Martial has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot under Jose Mourinho.
The French international has started 16 Premier League games so far this season and has only been picked for the starting eleven four times since Alexis Sanchez moved to United in January.
It’s led to speculation that Martial is eyeing a summer move with TeamTalk reporting last week that Arsenal and Tottenham were willing to spend £60m to lure the Frenchman to London this summer.
The report went on to say that Martial was willing to move to either Arsenal or Spurs if a deal could be agreed with United but it seems the London duo will face stiff competition from abroad.
The Express are citing a report from Calciomercato that claims Bayern Munich and Juventus are also showing a keen interest in signing Martial and are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer.
No doubt United would prefer to sell the unsettled Frenchman abroad rather than to a domestic rival such as Arsenal or Tottenham, plus Bayern and Juve are two European giants so I’m sure Martial would be tempted to join either club.

However, if the young attacker wants to remain in the Premier League then Martial will have at least two serious options and I think he’d be an excellent signing for either of the north London clubs if they could persuade United to do a deal.
