Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs battling it out to secure the signature of £30m-rated Norwich City midfielder James Maddison this summer, according to the Mirror.
Maddison was a product of the Coventry City youth system before joining Norwich in 2016 and he’s developed in to one of the hottest properties outside of the Premier League over the past two years.
The 21-year-old has established himself in the first team and he’s provided 15 goals and 11 assists in his 45 appearances in all competition so far despite Norwich enduring a frustrating campaign.
His impressive form has seen him recognised at international level having become a regular with the England U21s and he’s also been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The midfielder has also caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs in the race to sign Maddison this summer.
Arsene Wenger is expected to revamp his squad after a disappointing campaign and the Gunners could be eyeing Maddison as a replacement for Jack Wilshere – who’s tipped to leave when his contract expires in June.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is also in the market for a new creative midfielder and the north Londoners could view Maddison as the ‘new Dele Alli’ following his huge success since joining from MK Dons.
However, Arsenal and Tottenham aren’t the only club in the running as the Mirror claim that Man City, Southampton, Brighton and Everton are also keen on signing Maddison at the end of the season.
Norwich know they are going to lose the attacking midfielder this summer but they aren’t going to let him leave on the cheap as the newspaper says they’ve slapped a £30m price-tag on his head.
