Summer Move Confirmed: Arsenal, Tottenham Or Liverpool Could Sign Midfield Star
Max Meyer could be set for a move to Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool after Schalke confirmed the midfielder will leave the club on a free transfer
The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Max Meyer…
Max Meyer could be set for a move to Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool after Schalke confirmed the midfielder will leave the club on a free transfer this summer, according to TeamTalk.
Meyer has been with Schalke his entire career having joined the club as a kid and worked his way through the youth system before emerging as one of the most exciting young talents in German football.
The 22-year-old made his name as an attacking midfielder but he’s excelled since being converted in to a deep-lying midfielder this season by boss Domenico Tedesco.
Meyer’s future at the Veltins Arena has been the subject of constant speculation in recent months as his contract is due to expire at the end of June and Schalke have struggled to agree terms over an extension.
The German international’s situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have all expressed their interest in signing him.
The English trio have now been handed a major boost as Schalke’s sporting executive Christian Heidel has confirmed that Meyer won’t be signing a new contract and will leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking at a press conference today, Heidel is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“Max Meyer will definitely leave Schalke this summer.”
“We’re dealing with the situation very professionally. It’s all been very amicable.”
The news is sure to have alerted Arsenal as the Gunners are expected to sign a new midfielder this summer with Jack Wilshere tipped to leave when his contract expires and Meyer would be an excellent replacement.
However, Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for another midfielder as Emre Can is edging closer to walking away when his deal runs out in June while Spurs are also eyeing Meyer amid doubts over the future of Victor Wanyama.

No doubt Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs will also face stiff competition from abroad but I think Meyer would be a superb signing if one of the English giants were able to lure the German star to the Premier League.
