The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Andre Gomes…
Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Andre Gomes after the midfielder held talks with Barcelona about a move away from the club this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Gomes earned a big-money move to the Nou Camp last summer after impressing during a two-year spell with Valencia but his time with Barca hasn’t gone according to plan.
The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a starting place under Ernesto Valverde this season with Gomes starting just 6 La Liga games so far this campaign.
It’s led to speculation the Portuguese international will be on the move and TeamTalk claim Tottenham are leading the chase to sign Gomes this summer after failing with an approach in January.
A potential deal has now moved a step closer as the report cites Spanish outlet Sport as saying Gomes has now held talks with Barca chiefs to express his desire to leave in search of regular football.
Juventus and AC Milan are also understood to be chasing the midfielder but TeamTalk suggest that it’s Tottenham who are closing in on Gomes’s signature ahead of the summer window.
Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be huge fan of the Barca man and has lined him up as one of his first signings as he looks to further strengthen his squad this summer.
The Tottenham coach is expected to be in the market for a new midfielder as Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele have both been linked with moves away from north London so Gomes could be seen as a replacement.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Gomes would be a solid addition to the squad if Spurs could get a deal wrapped-up.
