The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Sami Khedira…
Liverpool have opened talks over the signing of Sami Khedira after the Juventus midfielder confirmed his desire to play in the Premier League, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Khedira has been one of the best central midfielders in Europe for several years as he won a number of top honours with Real Madrid before joining Juve in the summer of 2015.
The German international is about to win his third consecutive Serie A title in Turin while he’s expected to add to his 73 caps during the World Cup finals in Russia this summer.
However, Khedira has just one year left to run on his current contract and he admitted earlier this week that he’d be keen to test himself in the Premier League amid reports of a move to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to be in the market for a new midfielder this summer as Emre Can is being tipped to leave when his contract expires next month and it seems Khedira is a potential replacement.
The midfielder is quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“I’m not thinking about my future right now, but one day I would like to win the Premier League. I only have one year left on my contract here and will be 32 next year.”
Khedira would certainly be a cheaper option than some of the other midfielders being linked with Liverpool such as Jorginho or Ruben Neves and it looks like Klopp has now stepped-up his interest in his compatriot.
TeamTalk are citing a report from the Sun that claims Liverpool have opened talks over signing Khedira and the player is understood to be keen on the idea of linking up with Klopp at Anfield.

Khedira is a similar player to Can so he would be a like-for-like replacement and he’s a top class player when he’s 100% fit so I think he’d be a decent short-term option if Liverpool could get a deal can be agreed.
