Arsenal, Liverpool & Tottenham Battling To Sign £50m-Rated EPL Attacker
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs battling to sign Wilfried Zaha but Crystal Palace are expected to want at least £50m for the attacker
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Wilfried Zaha…
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs battling to sign Wilfried Zaha but Crystal Palace are expected to want at least £50m for the attacker, according to the Mirror.
Zaha came through the youth ranks at Palace before earning a move to Manchester United in 2013 but an unsuccessful two-year spell at Old Trafford saw him re-join his former club in 2015.
Since moving back to Selhurst Park, Zaha has finally started to fulfill his potential with the 25-year-old producing some excellent performances for the Eagles this season to help them secure their top flight status for another year.
The Ivory Coast international’s performances have alerted clubs in the upper echelons of the Premier League once again with five out of the ‘big 6’ reportedly showing a keen interest.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all hoping to sign Zaha while Chelsea and Man City are also keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the summer window.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to strengthen his squad to try and push Tottenham to the next level and the newspaper says Spurs will make a fresh approach for Zaha after previously seeing their advances knocked back by Palace.
Liverpool are also in the market for attacking reinforcements as Jurgen Klopp looks to finally sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho and it seems the Merseysiders are also chasing Zaha’s signature.
Arsenal are gearing-up for a busy summer and are also showing an interest in the pacey winger but the north Londoners will want to resolve their managerial situation before committing to any big-money new signings.
Zaha is contracted to Selhurst Park until 2022 so Palace are under no pressure to sell but former chairman Simon Jordan believes the club could cash-in if a bid of at least £50m is put on the table and he wouldn’t be surprised if the bidding reaches £70m.
Jordan is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“I think Wilfried Zaha is a £50million to £70million player in this market place. If you put him in a side that has some real balance and poise about it, you’d only get more from him.
“I think £50m would be the lowest he should go for. I think he’ll go for nearer £70m, and I got universally rounded upon as living in Narnia when I said that last week.
“I don’t think Palace have any desire to sell him. They’ve got American owners who have seen the abyss over the last couple of seasons, so they’re not going to let the jewel of their crown go snapping unless someone is going to break their arm off at the wrist financially.”

It remains to be seen whether any of the big clubs chasing his signature will be prepared to pay that kind of money but Zaha has huge potential and no doubt he’ll be keen to test himself at the highest level again to make up for his failed stint at Old Trafford.
