Liverpool are in advanced negotiations with Lyon over a possible £60m deal to sign Nabil Fekir as Jurgen Klopp continues to overhaul his midfield, according to the Guardian.

Naby Keita is set to arrive from RB Leipzig while Liverpool confirmed on Monday night that they’ve agreed a stunning £39m deal to sign Monaco defensive midfielder Fabinho this summer.

The Brazilian international has been signed to replace Emre Can ahead of his expected free transfer move to Juventus but Klopp is yet to bring in a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his switch to Barcelona in January.

Several names have been linked with a move to Anfield but Fekir has emerged as the prime target and the Guardian claim Liverpool are now in advanced talks with Lyon about signing the playmaker this summer.

The newspaper suggests that a deal will cost the Merseysiders around £60m and Liverpool are keen to get their latest big-money transfer wrapped-up before the World Cup begins next month.

Fekir has been a key player for Lyon in recent years and enjoyed another superb campaign last season that saw him provide an impressive 23 goals and 8 assists in his 40 appearances in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has been included in the French squad ahead of Russia 2018 so it makes sense for Liverpool to try and get a deal secured now as his value would increase significantly if he impresses at the World Cup.

Fekir is an attacking midfielder who predominantly plays through the middle but he can also play on the wing so he’d give Klopp plenty of options if he does complete a move to Anfield.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but there appears to be a strong chance Liverpool will line-up with Fabinho, Keita and Fekir in the middle of the park next season and that would be a match for anybody.
