Emery Makes Contact With La Liga Star After Arsenal Hold Positive Talks With Agent

By on June 25, 2018

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Ever Banega to Arsenal…

Unai Emery has made a personal call to Ever Banega to convince him to join Arsenal after we held positive talks with his agent about a move from Sevilla this summer, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.

Our new head coach is looking to revamp his midfield options by bringing in two central midfielders after Santi Cazorla rejoined Villarreal and Jack Wilshere confirmed he’ll also leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month following 17 years in north London.

A deal to sign Sampdoria defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira is reportedly close to completion but Banega has also emerged as a prime target with the Mirror claiming Arsenal chiefs held positive talks with his agent, Marcelo Simonian, in London late last week.

TeamTalk reported on Friday that Arsenal were hoping to get a deal wrapped-up as we prepare to meet Banega’s £17.5m release clause and it seems Emery has now done his bit to try and get the transfer over the line.

The Mirror are citing reports from Estadio Deportivo that claims Emery has made a personal call to Banega to convince him to join him at the Emirates and reassure the midfielder he will be an important part of his plans.

Emery worked with the Argentinean international at Sevilla and won two Europa League titles together so it seems they could be set for a reunion in London this summer if we can get this proposed deal agreed.

However, the 29-year-old is currently in Russia with the Argentina squad so any potential move will have to wait until the South American returns from World Cup duty but it looks like Banega could be our fourth major signing of the summer.
