The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd have told Gareth Bale he needs to force a move away from Real Madrid…
Manchester United have told Tottenham target Gareth Bale he needs to put in a transfer request to push through a potential move away from Real Madrid this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Bale made his name at Tottenham before joining Madrid in 2013 and he’s enhanced his reputation as one of the best attackers in world football during his five years at the Bernabeu. The 28-year-old has provided 88 goals and 59 assists to help Los Blancos win a whole host of honours including 4 Champions League and 1 La Liga title.
The Welsh international came off the bench to score twice – including a spectacular overhead kick – during Madrid’s 3-1 Champions League final victory over Liverpool last month but Bale admitted immediately after the game he was disappointed not to have started.
Bale’s future at Madrid is now in doubt and the situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League with TeamTalk claiming that Manchester United and Tottenham have expressed their interest.
The attackers agent, Jonathan Barnett, has done little to play down the speculation after confirming recently that Bale will seek talks with Madrid about his position at the club as he was assurances over his first team place.
Barnett is quoted by TeamTalk as saying:
“I think he is in the top three or four players on earth, so for somebody like him, he wants to play.
“It’s not about money and not about anything else. He wants to play and wants to win the Ballon d’Or, and I think he is capable of doing it.
“I think we have to have a chat with Real Madrid and see where we are going. Obviously he wants a better year than he had last year. He wants to play more, and that’s paramount to him.”
Mauricio Pochettino would no doubt love to work with Bale at Tottenham and he’d be a marquee signing ahead of their first season in their new stadium but there has to be doubts over whether the north Londoners could afford the kind of money it would take to land Bale.
United wouldn’t have such concerns as they are one of the few clubs who have the financial muscle needed to sign a superstar like Bale and he’s been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford for several years.
It looks like United have now stepped up their interest as Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda claims the Red Devils have told Bale he needs to go public with his desire to leave Madrid if he’s to push through a potential £123m [€140m] move.
Inda is quoted by TeamTalk as saying:
“Bale last year wanted to go, there was an offer from Manchester United and this year that proposal comes back to life, although they ask him to say publicly that he wants to go,”
“If the offer of €140m comes, it would be a good sale.”
Jose Mourinho knows he needs to strengthen his squad if United are to compete with Man City next season and Bale could be the man to add a spark in the final third – which is something they lacked at times last season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I personally think we’ll see Bale end up at United if he decides to leave Madrid and wants a return to the Premier League as a return to Spurs seems unrealistic.
