The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Domagoj Vida….
Liverpool have submitted an opening £13.2m bid to sign defender Domagoj Vida but face competition from Everton to land the Besiktas star, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo.
Jurgen Klopp has splashed out on two central midfielders this summer with Naby Keita completing his move from RB Leipzig while Fabinho has arrived from Monaco but the Reds boss is also keen to strengthen his options in defence as he looks to turn Liverpool in to genuine title contenders next year.
The Merseysiders have been linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks and the latest to emerge as a potential target is Vida with Turkish journalist Targay Demir claiming Liverpool have submitted an offer for the Besiktas centre-back.
The Liverpool Echo carry quotes from Demir speaking to A Spor radio station in Turkey where he claims that Liverpool have joined Everton in proposing a £13.2m [€15m] deal to sign Vida this summer.
However, it looks like the Mersey rivals will have to dig a little deeper as the journalist says Besiktas are holding out for a fee closer to £17.7m [€20m] for the 29-year-old star.
Demir is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:
“Everton and Liverpool have made an offer for Vida, €15m has been proposed but Besiktas will not consider a bid below €20m.”

Vida played for the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Kyiv before joining Besiktas in January and he’s been impressing at the heart of the Croatian defence in Russia this summer.
The 6ft centre-back has been playing alongside Dejan Lovren in defence and helped his country reach the quarter finals of the World Cup with a penalty shoot-out victory over Denmark on Sunday.
It looks like a move to England could be on the cards with Liverpool and Everton battling it out over a deal and Besiktas are prepared to cash-in but only if their asking price is met.

Vida is predominantly a centre-back but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the back four so his versatility would be a useful asset for Klopp if Liverpool could get a deal agreed ahead of their rivals.
