The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are focussed on signing Jack Grealish…
Tottenham hope to wrap-up a deal to sign Aston Villa’s £40m-rated midfielder Jack Grealish next week after ending their interest in Wilfried Zaha, according to the Sun.
Mauricio Pochettino has been extremely quiet in the transfer market so far as he’s yet to make a single major addition to his squad but Spurs are traditionally late movers and are expected to step-up their attempts to land their target over the coming days.
The north Londoners have been linked with Zaha in recent weeks but the Sun claims Tottenham have ended their interest after Crystal Palace quoted £70m for the winger so Pochettino has turned his attention to landing Grealish instead.
The 22-year-old has been with Villa his entire career having come through their youth system and played a key role in their push for promotion last season that saw Steve Bruce’s side reach the Championship play-off final.
However, following their defeat to Fulham at Wembley, Villa are under pressure to cash-in due to their precarious financial situation and Grealish is among the valuable assets that are expected to leave this summer.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for the England U21 international with Sky Sports reporting last week that they have already held talks with Villa about signing the talented midfielder.
The Sun are now reporting that chairman Daniel Levy has so far refused to meet Villa’s £40m asking price but the Tottenham supremo hopes to find a breakthrough and get a deal wrapped-up next week.
Levy is known to be a shrewd negotiator so no doubt he’ll be looking to use Villa’s financial situation to drive the price down but we’ll have to wait and see whether an agreement can be reached.
If Spurs could land Grealish he would become their first signing of the summer and he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele amid speculation suggesting the Belgian international could be on the move this summer.

Let’s see how things progress over the coming days but it seems inevitable that Tottenham will get a deal agreed and I think Grealish will be an exciting addition to their squad.
