£30m Star To Inform Club He Wants To Join Tottenham As Levy Prepares Formal Offer
Jack Grealish is ready to tell Aston Villa he wants to join Tottenham as the north Londoners prepare to launch a formal bid to sign the £30m midfielder
The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Tottenham’s attempts to sign Jack Grealish…
Jack Grealish is ready to tell Aston Villa he wants to join Tottenham as the north Londoners prepare to launch a formal bid to sign the £30m-rated midfielder, according to the Telegraph.
Grealish is a boyhood Villa fan and came through their youth ranks as a child before breaking in to the first team set-up where’s he’s become a vital part of Steve Bruce’s side. The 22-year-old played a key role in Villa’s push for promotion last season that saw them reach the play-off final before eventually losing-out to Fulham.
That defeat at Wembley will prove costly as the Telegraph claim Grealish has decided he needs to leave his hometown team and will inform the clubs owners of his desire to join Tottenham in order to fulfill his ambition of playing in the Champions League.
The newspaper says the midfielder is keen to work under Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane and the Spurs boss is determined to sign Grealish before the window closes on August 9th.
Villa will be reluctant to lose the England Under-21 international and their financial woes have eased following last week’s £55m takeover by Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
And boss Steve Bruce has warned that any club looking to sign the likes of Grealish will have to pay a premium. He’s quoted by the Telegraph as saying:
“I know for a fact from the owners [that] anybody wanting to buy Jack Grealish will not buy him on the cheap,” he said.
“It’s only what somebody else is prepared to pay – what he’s worth. Until I have the conversation I can’t really answer the question.
“[But] If we have to sell them then at least we get the right price for them and can move forward.
“If anybody is going to buy one of our players now they are going to have to pay a premium.”
The Telegraph says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to formalise their interest in Grealish with an opening offer this week but Villa are expected to demand around £30m for Grealish’s signature.
Levy is a shrewd negotiator so no doubt the Tottenham supremo will look to drive that asking price down but I think it’s inevitable that Grealish will end up joining Spurs at some point this summer.

The midfielder is a huge talent and has the potential to flourish under Pochettino so he should prove to be an excellent signing. Grealish could be viewed as a possible replacement for Mousa Dembele amid speculation linking the Belgian international with a move away from north London.
