Tottenham are preparing a cut-price January swoop for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney after the Glasgow giants missed out on the Champions League, according to the Mirror.
Tierney has been with his boyhood club since he was a kid and progressed through the ranks at Celtic Park to become an integral part of the first team set-up and one of the best defenders in Scottish football.
The 22-year-old was virtually ever-present to help Brendan Rodgers’ side win the domestic treble last season and, despite his tender age, Tiernay has already cemented himself as a regular at international level having captained Scotland at senior level.
His potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton were all linked with Tierney this summer but he ended up staying in Glasgow.
However, Celtic crashed out of the Champions League at the qualifying stages last week and the Mirror claim that Tottenham are now ready to take advantage of the situation by luring Tierney south of the border.
The newspaper says Spurs baulked at Celtic’s £20m valuation this summer but are ready to test the SPL Champions’ resolve with a cut-price £10m bid ahead of the January window.
Celtic’s failure to reach the group stages of the Champions League will have cost them millions and the report says Tottenham hope they can now land Tierney on the cheap this winter.
Mauricio Pochettino was in the market for another left-back this summer as Danny Rose is expected to leave White Hart Lane after falling out-of-favour and the England international could yet secure a move abroad before the end of this month.

Tierney would be viewed as a long-term replacement for Rose and the Scottish star would provide stiff competition for Ben Davies at left-back if he completes a move to Tottenham in January.
