Sarri To Make 4 Key Changes | Expected Chelsea Line-Up vs Man City

This weekend’s heavy-weight clash sees Chelsea entertain Premier League leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Here is the latest team news and expected Chelsea line-up for the game.

The Blues will be desperate to bounce back from their defeat at Wolves in midweek and Sarri is expected to recall a number of his key men after rotating his squad at Molineux.

Kepa was at fault for the Wolves equaliser on Wednesday night as he let the ball go straight through him but the young Spaniard is still expected to keep his place in goal while the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger will once again line-up in defence.

Sarri has dismissed suggestions that Marcos Alonso is tired so he’s likely to keep his place at left-back but David Luiz is expected to be recalled after being rested in midweek. Andreas Christensen will therefore drop out.

Sarri’s decision to rest Jorginho backfired on Wednesday night so the Italian is certain to come back in to the midfield with Cesc Fabregas making way while N’Golo Kante should keep his place in the starting eleven.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek got himself on the score-sheet at Wolves but he may still find himself back on the bench tomorrow night with Mateo Kovacic recalled in the middle of the park.

Eden Hazard will obviously keep his place against City but I think Sarri will be tempted to recall Olivier Giroud and Pedro with Alvaro Morata and Willian making way.

Here is how Chelsea are likely to line-up:

Chelsea have been found out which will be shown further against City unless Sarri does something different against the best side in the Premiership. He needs to swallow his pride with this particular group of players at his disposal (and against this particular opponent) and play a different formation. If not, Sterling and Mane will have both Aspelequeta AND Alonso/Emerson on toast and Silva will do a Deli Ali on Jorginho leaving either Aguero or Gabriel to be like a hungry fox in the hen house in Chelsea’s penalty area.
Chelsea NEED Kante to play next to Jorginho with only 3 at the back in a 3 5 2 formation. We need to dominate the midfield with Giroud up top on his own to hold the ball up. If I see Morata s name on the starting 11 team sheet I will know we are in for a dicking! There is no reason why Sarriball cannot be expressed in a 3 5 2 or a 4 4 2. The concept of a high line, high press, high tempo, quick movement, short passing game can be played in most formations. Also if Sarri cannot come up with an alternative system and formation today to enable RLC to start, he is not the Manager I thought him to be. We absolutely capitulated this game last season. We NEED to have a right go at City to be able to compete. If not and we lose badly again following on from the Spurs and the Wolves results we will lose out to Spurs and Arsenal for a top 4 finish.
