“They are very interested” – Wife confirms Arsenal & Man Utd want to sign £26m star
Yannick Carrasco’s wife has confirmed Arsenal and Manchester United are ‘very interested’ in signing the Belgian international winger
The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Arsenal and Man Utd’s interest in Yannick Carrasco is confirmed…
Yannick Carrasco’s wife has confirmed Arsenal and Manchester United are ‘very interested’ in signing the Belgian international winger, according to the Mirror.
Carrasco came through the youth ranks at Genk and enjoyed impressive spells at Monaco and Atletico Madrid before making a surprise move to Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang last winter.
The 25-year-old has scored 7 goals in his 25 appearances over the past 12 months but Carassco is already agitating for a move back to Europe in order to be closer to his friends and family.
The Belgian attacker’s situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League with the Metro citing a report from Sky Italia last week that claimed Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to lure Carassco to England with Dalian Yifang hoping to recoup the £26.5m they paid for him a year ago.
Carassco’s wife, Noemie Happart, has now confirmed the English giants are ‘very interested’ in signing the player but insists ‘a lot of clubs’ are in the running for his signature and nothing has been signed just yet.
When asked if Arsenal and Man Utd are looking to sign Carassco, his wife is quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“Yes, they are very interested. I do not hide it, but nothing is signed.” she said on Belgian TV show RTBF on Saturday.
“There are a lot of things going on, he has been called by a lot of clubs,”
“A lot of clubs are interested, nothing concrete, nothing has been signed yet.”
Arsenal are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements as Danny Welbeck is out for the season and is expected to leave when his contract expires in June and it appears the north Londoners have identified Carrasco as a potential replacement.
However, Gunners boss Unai Emery admitted last week that he’s only able to sign new players on loan this month so any permanent deal for Carrasco would have to wait until the end of the season.

Manchester United have far more financial firepower than Arsenal so they could be well placed to sign the Belgian star if he opts for a move to England, however, the managerial uncertainty at Old Trafford may prove to be a problem for the player.
