Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to boost their top four hopes with a positive result when they take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update including the latest on Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier.

The Spurs boss confirmed that Dier will miss the trip to Merseyside this weekend after suffering a hip injury during the international break with the midfielder forced off during England’s win over the Czech Republic last week.

Dier withdrew from the England squad ahead of the Montenegro game and will now sit out Sunday’s huge Premier League clash at Liverpool with Pochettino suggesting he’ll be out for up to two weeks.

Tottenham will also be without Harry Winks as the midfielder continues to recover from a groin injury that he sustained during the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

In a triple blow for the north Londoners, Pochettino also revealed that Aurier won’t be available to face Liverpool after picking up a hamstring injury while away with the Ivory Coast squad during the international break.

Pochettino is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:

“He [Dier] has been ruled out. It’s not a big issue but he needs to recover from the problem he suffered against the Czech Republic with the national team.

“Him, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier are going to be out for the weekend.”

“[How long will Dier be out] One week, 10, days, two weeks. We’ll see how it is going to improve. He was running today but we need to wait for the evolution.

“Every problem has a different evolution with a different player. We need to wait. We are going to assess him day-by-day but I don’t believe it will be longer than two weeks.”

Otherwise, Tottenham have a healthy squad to choose from as they look to get back to winning way following their defeat to Southampton last time out. Spurs still sit third in the table but Arsenal are just one point behind in fourth while Man Utd are a further two points adrift in fifth so Pochettino will be desperate to come away with a positive result from Liverpool to boost their top four hopes.
