The stakes couldn’t be higher as Manchester United welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford for a crucial Manchester Derby at Old Trafford this evening.

This is one of the biggest games of the season so there will be lots of betting activity on the outcome of the match. All the best betting sites are running promotions and special odds so it’s worth keeping an eye out for those. City are the narrow favourites but you can’t discount United at Old Trafford so plenty of bettors will be backing the hosts this evening.

United fans find themselves in an odd situation as obviously they want their side to win in order to aid their hopes of finishing in the top four with the Red Devils battling it out with Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal for the two remaining Champions League qualification places.

Arsenal and Chelsea dropped points over the weekend but Man Utd still sit sixth in the table and three points off fourth-place so they desperately need a result against Pep Guardiola’s side this evening.

However, many United fans also don’t want to see Manchester City lose as that could hand Liverpool their first league title since 1990. The Citizens currently sit two points adrift of Liverpool with a game in hand so defeat for City at Old Trafford would put the Merseysiders in pole position with just three games left.

United will be looking to bounce back from a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday afternoon but they’ll be up against a formidable City side that have won their last 11 Premier League games in a row.

Team news

Man Utd welcome Luke Shaw back into the squad after he completed a two-match suspension while Ander Herrera could return after recovering from a hamstring injury that’s hampered him recently.

However, Phil Jones is set to miss out after picking up a knock at the weekend while Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia remain unavailable for selection.

City will be without Kevin de Bruyne after he suffered a muscle injury during the win over Tottenham at the weekend.

Predicted score

Man Utd 1-2 Man City: This is going to be a fascinating game as both sides desperately need a win and tensions are sure to be high at Old Trafford. United have to respond following their disappointing performance at Everton but City are in formidable form and I think they’ll have just enough to edge it.
