Man Utd team news: Solskjaer confirms fresh injury blow ahead of Palace clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a fresh injury blow ahead of Man Utd’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace this weekend.

Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s provided a full team news and injury update.

The Norwegian coach has confirmed a fresh injury blow with the news that Diogo Dalot is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering an unspecified injury in training earlier this month.

Dalot hasn’t featured in either of Man Utd’s opening two Premier League games against Chelsea or Wolves and the young full-back played just 193 minutes of football during pre-season.

The 20-year-old defender was last seen as an unused substitute during United’s final friendly against AC Milan at the start of the month and it appears he picked up an injury ahead of the new season.

Dalot will now miss Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace as well as next weekend’s trip to Southampton but Solskjaer is hoping to have the Portuguese right-back available after the subsequent international break.

Solskjaer told ManUtd.com:

“It is more or less the same (squad). Diogo is injured, he’ll be out for a little while, hopefully he’ll be back for (the games) after the international break. He’s had a problem for a couple of weeks. But that’s it.”

Elsewhere, Eric Bailly remains on the sidelines as the Ivory Coast international is still working his way back from a serious knee injury that he picked up during the pre-season tour of China and he’s not expected back until 2020.

Alexis Sanchez hasn’t been involved yet this season due to a lack of match practice having arrived late to pre-season following his participation at the Copa America but it remains to be seen whether the attacker will be selected to face Palace amid on-going rumours linking him with a move to Italy.

Solskjaer could opt to freshen things up following Monday night’s draw at Wolves with the likes of Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood among those pushing for recalls. [Check out our predicted Man Utd line-up here]
