Man Utd dealt huge injury blow ahead of crucial Liverpool showdown
Man Utd are expected to be without Paul Pogba for their clash with Liverpool as the club fear a foot injury will keep him out until the end of October
Manchester United are expected to be without Paul Pogba for their crucial showdown with Liverpool as the club fear a foot injury will keep him out until at least the end of October, according to the Daily Mail.
Pogba has been hampered by a foot injury for a number of weeks after picking up the issue during the Carabao Cup win over Rochdale and the midfielder aggravated the problem against Arsenal four days later.
The French international has been forced to miss United’s last two matches against AZ Alkmaar and Newcastle United while he was ruled out of France’s Euro qualifiers during the international break.
Pogba has been undertaking his rehabilitation at the Transform Altitude Performance Center in Dubai this week in the hope of speeding up his recovery and the midfielder has been posting videos of his training regime on social media.
However, in his latest video the 26-year-old was still wearing a protective boot and the Daily Mail says he’s almost certainly going to miss United’s huge showdown with Liverpool after the international break.
Manchester United welcome their fierce north-west rivals to Old Trafford next Sunday and Pogba is due to report back to their Carrington training base next week to be assessed by the clubs medical department.
But the Daily Mail says Pogba is expected to be ruled out of the visit of Liverpool next weekend with United fearing the Frenchman won’t be fit until at least the end of October.
It means Pogba would sit out league games with Liverpool and Norwich City while he’d also miss the Europa League trip to Partizan Belgrade and the Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea before the end of the month.
The news will come as a huge blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Man Utd boss is under increasing pressure following a poor start to the new season with last week’s defeat at Newcastle leaving the Manchester giants sitting 12th in the table.
We’ll have to wait for further updates once Pogba returns to Carrington next week but Solskjaer will be praying he’s made a swift recovery and is passed fit for United’s clash with Liverpool as he looks to turn their faltering season around.
