Tottenham plot sensational double swoop to sign Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a sensational raid on Real Madrid to sign Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde, according to Defensa Central.
In recent days, Uruguayan midfielder Valverde has been the centre of attention following his omission from the starting lineup against Kairat Almaty.
Reports soon emerged claiming he had declined to play at right-back, resulting in his absence from the matchday action — allegations that both the player and the club have since firmly denied.
Meanwhile, Vinícius has been highly productive yet notably rotated this season. The Brazilian has contributed four goals and five assists across all competitions but has completed just one full 90 minutes in any of Real Madrid’s 14 competitive fixtures under Alonso.
His limited minutes, despite ranking among the team’s most influential attackers, have sparked speculation regarding his starting status and future — particularly with less than two years remaining on his contract.
Now, according to Defensa Central, Tottenham are plotting a sensational raid on Madrid for the transfers of Valverde and Vinicius to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next summer and are willing to submit a formal £261m offer for the pair.
The report adds that Spurs are set to embark on a squad revamp next season and are looking to take advantage of the duo’s current situation at the Santiago Bernabéu by making a £174m offer for Vinicius, who’ll have one year left on his contract by next summer, and an £87m bid for Valverde.
Audacious swoop
Thomas Frank’s side have enjoyed a strong start to the season after reinforcing their squad with the arrivals of Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani during the summer.
However, with a few concerns in midfield regarding fitness and tactical balance, the club are reportedly exploring further reinforcements—and it could turn into a marquee addition, with Valverde emerging as a potential target.
The 27-year-old would bring power, defensive solidity, and technical quality to Tottenham’s midfield, addressing the need for greater depth and reliability in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, Vinícius could represent a long-term successor to Son Heung-min, providing the goals, dribbling threat, and creativity that the South Korean has consistently offered over the years before departing for LAFC in the summer.
It would obviously be a sensational double swoop if Spurs were able to sign Vinicius Jr and Valverde but it remains to be seen whether the South American duo would be open to joining Tottenham next year.
Spurs ended a run of three consecutive draws by defeating Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime to hand Frank’s side their fourth Premier League win of the season.
