Liverpool getting closer to signing Bradley Barcola

Liverpool are getting closer to signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to Nicolo Schira.

Barcola has been Liverpool’s primary target in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Reds are looking to bolster Andoni Iraola’s attack following the departure of Mohamed Salah, as well as uncertainties regarding the future of Cody Gakpo, who is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

While the club has already signed Spanish international Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna, there’s still a clear need to add a world-class player in the position who can bring the quality needed to challenge for titles next season.

It’s no surprise Barcola has been earmarked as a viable option after another prolific campaign, in which he netted 20 goals in all competitions during the 2025-26 season and also starred for France in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, where he netted three goals and provided one assist.

In recent days, Football Talk, citing Fabrizio Romano, revealed that Liverpool have opened talks to sign Barcola from PSG.

It appears the deal is close to being finalised, as Nicolo Schira reports that the Reds are getting closer to signing the Frenchman.

The fee is reported to be £106m, with the France International expected to put pen to paper at Anfield on a contract that runs until 2032, Schira adds.

Barcola’s numbers from last season underline just how effective he has become in the final third. The former Lyon youngster averaged 0.53 goals per 90 minutes, putting him in the 93rd percentile among Ligue 1 wingers.

His efficiency in front of goal was further reflected by an average of 1.54 shots on target every 90 minutes. That figure placed the 23-year-old in the 92nd percentile for his position and highlighted his consistency as a finisher.

Beyond his attacking output, his explosive pace, tight control, and willingness to run directly at defenders make him particularly dangerous in one-on-one situations, while his movement into open spaces during transitions allows him to thrive in the fast, aggressive style Andoni Iraola favours.

Barcola was surprisingly an unused substitute in PSG’s 2-1 Super Cup final win over Aston Villa, suggesting the club may be ready to let him go this summer.

With Schira reporting that the deal is nearing completion, it remains to be seen whether the French club will accept Liverpool’s £106m offer or hold on for a higher fee.
