Arsene Wenger – I Tried To Sign Manchester City Ace

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he once made an approach to try and sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Speaking to Arsenal.com, Wenger admitted he made an enquiry for the England stopper while he was on-loan at Birmingham during the 2009/10 season.
Hart returned to City and has gone on to cement himself as not only the No.1 at the Etihad Stadium but also first choice for the England national team, and Wenger is not surprised the 24-year-old has established himself at such a young age:
“I remember when Hart played at Birmingham, I asked about him and they told me he is at Man City,” he said.
“I thought he would be the keeper there. He has something that is needed for a goalkeeper to play at a big club and I am not surprised he made it as No 1.
“Usually it is a job for over 30s, but we have seen that with Van der Sar, who went at a very young age to Juventus,” he added.
“He went to Fulham and Manchester United where, for a few years, he was the best keeper in England.”
