Wenger confirms Arsenal “are still on the market”
By Fab4.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club are still looking to add another defender to their squad, despite signing Laurent Koscienly for an undisclosed fee yesterday. Koscielny will wear the great No.6 shirt which indicates he will partner Thomas Vermaelen in central defence next season, but Wenger is still keen on bringing in further defensive options.
Arsenal are set to lose William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre and Sol Campbell as all three are yet to agree contract extensions at the club, so Wenger has eased Arsenal fans fears that they would go into the new season with only three centre-backs by confirming he is wanting to add another.
“We identified Koscielny as a very, very strong centre half,” he told Arsenal.com.
“He can be an outstanding addition to our team. But it is not over, we are still open to buy.
“We are still on the market for another defensive player because we have the need for one more.”
