BREAKING NEWS: Fulham confirm no Arsenal deal for Schwarzer
By Fab4.
Arsenal have yet to agree a fee with Fulham for goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and the Australian has not had a medical ahead of a proposed move to the Emirates, according to Sky Sports News.
Reports recently had suggested Schwarzer had completed a medical and the formalities of a £3.5m deal were expected to be completed this week. However, Sky Sports News spoke with the 37-year-old who confirmed he was currently away on holiday with his family and that no medical had taken place. The reporter had also spoken with a Fulham director who confirmed no deal was in place with Arsenal and they had only received one bid from the Gunners, which was rejected. So it seems the ball is in Arsenal’s court and they must submit a higher bid if they are to get their man.
Schwarzer has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to add an experienced head between the sticks. Fans are split as to whether the 37-year-old Aussie is the man for the job, but one thing is for sure….a new No.1 is needed at the Emirates. If Schwarzer is to be that man, Arsenal will have to improve on the £3m offer they are believed to have already submitted if they are to persuade Fulham into selling. Once a fee is agreed the deal should be relatively straight forward with a medical and wages unlikely to prove a stumbling block.
