Arsenal and Man Utd target Yann M’Vila has been released by police after being arrested for an alleged assault on a 17-year-old, according to Goal.com.
The Rennes midfielder missed Saturday’s 3-1 win over AC Ajaccio due to what was described as ‘personal reasons’, and it’s now been revealed M’Vila was arrested on Monday following an incident at his home on Friday night where he’s accused of striking a 17-year-old man.
The France international spent the night in police custody before being released on Tuesday morning, and the 21-year-old’s lawyer, Thierry Fillion, is quoted by Goal.com as saying:
“Yann has acknowledged that it was an inappropriate response but provoked by the betrayal of the trust he gave to this young man,”
“As it stands, no decision has been taken yet by the Rennes prosecutor on this case but the file will be forwarded to him within eight to 10 days.”
The Sun recently reported that M’Vila is a target for both Arsenal and Manchester United, but this could scupper any potential move to the Premier League this summer. Depending on the outcome of court proceedings, Wenger and Fergie may decide against making a move for the player following this incident.
