AVB Rules Out Moves For Moutinho & M’Vila
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has all but ruled out moves for Porto playmaker Joao Moutinho and Rennes defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila this summer
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Spurs distance themselves from two midfielders.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has all but ruled out moves for midfield duo Joao Moutinho and Yann M’Vila, according to Sky Sports News.
Moutinho has been strongly linked with a move to Spurs this summer as the north Londoners try to find a replacement for Luka Modric, who is on the verge of signing for Real Madrid.
Villas-Boas is aware of the Portuguese midfielders talents having worked with him during his time at Porto. However, AVB has admitted it will be extremely difficult for him to sign the 25-year-old due to Porto demanding hefty transfer fees for their players, with reports suggesting they want around £30m for the playmaker.
When quizzed by Sky Sports about his interest in Moutinho at his weekly press conference, Villas-Boas said:
“It will be very difficult to sign him.
“I have experience of Porto and it is a club that sells good products but they are expensive.
“It has been like that with numerous amounts of players and that is why it is very difficult.”
Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila has also been linked with a move to White Hart Lane in recent weeks, but while Villas-Boas admitted he held an interest in the player he has now ruled out a move for the French enforcer, insisting he has a more creative target in mind.
“He is an interesting player, but I don’t think he will join Tottenham,”
“The player is a player of defensive characteristics.
“We had initial interest in M’Vila but we have moved on from that one and are now looking for a more creative player.”
