Arsenal Confirm €19m Sale Of Alex Song To Barcelona
Arsenal have announced on Arsenal.com the sale of midfielder Alex Song to Barcelona for €19m, with the player signing a five-year contract with the Catalans.
Arsenal have announced on Arsenal.com the sale of midfielder Alex Song to Barcelona.
Speculation has been rife linking the Cameroonian midfielder with a move to the Spanish giants in recent weeks, with new Barca manager Tito Vilanova looking for a replacement for the departed Seydou Keita.
The Catalans were understood to be in London last week to enter formal negotiations and it seems that trip has paid off as Arsenal confirmed the deal after todays 0-0 draw with Sunderland.
A statement on Arsenal.com read:
“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Alex Song to Barcelona.
Song will now travel to the Catalan club to agree personal terms and undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move.”
Barcelona have also confirmed the deal on their official website, claiming they will pay €19m for the 24-year-old – who will sign a five-year deal and have an €80m release clause in his contract.
Song is now due in Spain for a medical on Monday and will be official presented as a Barcelona player at the Gamper Cup.
