Swansea vs Chelsea Preview: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Swansea welcome Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Here is a preview including team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the game
Swansea City welcome Chelsea to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League and extend their lead at the top of the table.
The Blues fell to their first defeat of the season with a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in a hugely controversial encounter at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.
However, Roberto Di Matteo’s side showed their resilience by coming from behind to beat United 5-4 in their Capital One Cup clash in midweek, so should go into the game at the Liberty Stadium full of confidence.
Swansea will also be in confident mood following their impressive 3-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
Team News
Michael Laudrup is sweating over the fitness of defender Chico after he picked up a dead leg in the win at Anfield, but he’s expected to shake off the problem in time to face the Blues.
Should Chico fail to recover in time Garry Monnk and Alan Tate are on stand-by to step in.
Goalkeeper Michel Vorm is out to Gerhard Tremmel continues in goal, and Ashley Williams is expected to play despite a minor ankle issue.
Roberto Di Matteo has doubts over Juan Mata and David Luiz. The Spaniard is likely to play but Luiz may miss out so with captain John Terry serving the final game of his four-match ban, the returning Branislav Ivanovic is due to replace him at centre back.
Fernando Torres also returns from suspension and is likely to come straight back in and start up front, despite Daniel Sturridge’s goal-scoring performance in midweek.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Swansea have a pretty strong home record and Laudrup has his side playing some decent football this season, but Chelsea are full of goals and we can’t see the Swans containing them. Swansea 0-2 Chelsea.
