Tottenham vs Swansea Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Tottenham welcome Swansea to White Hart Lane on Sunday looking to close the gap on Everton. Here is a preview, team news likely line-ups and predicted score.
Tottenham welcome Swansea City to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon looking to maintain their push for a top four place.
Spurs dropped to fifth on goal difference after losing late on to Everton last weekend so Andre Villas-Boas will want an immediate response from his players tomorrow.
The visitors head into the game after losing a seven-goal thriller to Norwich last weekend but did reach the Semi Final’s of the Capital One Cup with a 1-0 win over Middlesborough on Wednesday night.
Swansea boss Michael Laudrup will be hoping for a repeat of the performance that saw his side record a stunning 2-0 win over Arsenal the last time they visited north London, and a similar result on Sunday would see the Swans overtake Tottenham in the table.
Team News
Andre Villas-Boas is able to welcome Scott Parker back to the squad for the first time this season after the midfielder recovered from a long-term injury, but he may have to make do with a place on the bench.
Michael Dawson is also back in contention after returning to training on Friday but the game will come too soon for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who is also closing in on a comeback.
Emmanuel Adebayor is expected to play alongside Jermain Defoe up front. Gareth Bale is expected to miss out with a hamstring injury so Clint Dempsey is likely to play on the left once again.
Swansea will once again be without Pablo Hernandez who’s still struggling with a thigh injury, but midfielder Leon Britton returned to action against Middlesborough in midweek and should start.
Defender Ashley Williams is also back after suspension, while Itay Shechter could be selected ahead of Danny Graham up front.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham have an excellent home record against Swansea, winning 12 and losing none of their 14 league meetings. But the Swans have done well recently in the London area winning 3 of their last 5 visits to the capital and Spurs have only kept one clean sheet at home under AVB, so this could be a good opportunity for the Welsh side to break their duck at the Lane. However, we can see Spurs having too much for Michael Laudrup’s men this weekend. Tottenham 2-1 Swansea
