Liverpool take on champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their push up the Premier League table.
Assistant manager Colin Pascoe has stepped in for Brendan Rodgers for the weekly press conference and has given a team news and injury update ahead of the game.
Pascoe told Liverpool’s official website that the Reds have no fresh injury worries for the clash at the Etihad with defender Jose Enrique now fully fit and in contention to start the game after making a substitute appearance against Arsenal on Wednesday and training well this week.
“Jose Enrique came on on Wednesday and has trained well yesterday and today. He’s fighting fit,”
“We’re looking good. The two boys have come in – they were good business. What they will bring to the style, the club and the squad will just enhance it.”
The Welshman also confirmed that new signing Philippe Coutinho will have to wait for his debut after returning to Italy to finalise his move over to the UK. Pascoe added:
“He’s [Coutinho] away at the moment, getting things sorted. On Monday or Tuesday, he’ll come here and we’ll assess him then.” Pascoe told Liverpoolfc.com
The 2-2 draw at the Emirates in midweek leaves Liverpool sitting in seventh place in the league but just seven points off fourth-placed Tottenham, so the Merseysiders will be hoping for a positive result this weekend to make an unlikely push for Champions League qualification.
