Arsenal have opened talks with Liverpool target Ashley Williams about a potential summer move to the Emirates, according to the Daily Mail.
Williams has been superb at the heart of Swansea’s defence over the past 2 years, helping the Welsh side become an established Premier League outfit as well as leading Michael Laudrup’s men to the League Cup with a 5-0 win over Bradford at Wembley back in February.
The 28-year-old’s consistent display’s appear to have alerted some of the Premier League big-boys with the Daily Mail claiming Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on luring him away from the Liberty Stadium this summer.
Former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers is understood to be keen on linking up with Williams again at Anfield but the Merseysiders may have to move fast as the newspaper suggests the Gunners are now favourites to sign the £12m-rated defender after holding talks with Williams’ representatives in London last week where a potential summer move to north London was discussed.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to be on the look-out for an established centre-back at the end of the season and the report claims the Frenchman is renewing his interest in Williams after seeing a bid knocked back during the January transfer window.
