Gunners Face Fight To Land €25m Jovetic Despite Opening Talks With Fiorentina

Arsenal are in talks with Fiorentina over the signing of striker Stevan Jovetic but face serious competition from Italian duo Juventus and Roma for his signature this summer, according to the Express.

The report claims we’ve opened talks with the Italian outfit and been told it will take at least €25m (£21.1m) to land the talented 23-year-old at the end of the season, with any potential deal dependent on us qualifying for the Champions League.

However, it seems the Montenegrin international is also attracting interest from within Serie A with Juventus and Roma also understood to be keeping tabs on him and the newspaper suggests the duo are set to make their own move for Jovetic and take advantage if we fail to secure a top-four finish this season.

The Express believe Juve are keen on signing another striker this summer despite already having a deal in place to sign Fernando Llorente on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao, and Jovetic is said to be under consideration along with the likes of Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuian.

Roma too are understood to be keen and the reports suggest they have already made contact with the Viola to register their interest as they look to sign a replacement for unsettled striker Daniel Osvaldo.

There has been a lot of talk surrounding our interest in Jovetic in recent weeks so I’d be extremely surprised if our reported interest wasn’t concrete but as with any good player, there will always be competition for his signature.

A player like Jovetic is going to want to be playing Champions League football if he leaves Fiorentina so we’ll have to do our best to secure a top-four finish this season and hopefully we can get this deal done early.

Reports of a new lucrative shirt sponsorship deal with Puma could boost the transfer budget further so fingers crossed Jovetic will be the first of many top-drawer signings this summer.
