Transfer News: Arsenal Prepare £6m Bid For Starlet | Spaniard’s Eye Liverpool Raid
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal eye a £6million bid for a Croatian starlet and Barcelona are lining up a move for Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal eye a Croatian starlet and Barcelona are lining up a move for Daniel Agger.
Arsenal eye Jedvaj
First up and the Sun are reporting that Arsenal are weighing-up a £6m bid for Croatian starlet Tin Jedvaj after Italian outfit Roma failed with a £5m move last week.
The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Croatia after breaking into the Dinamo Zagreb youth team last season and has been invited to train with the senior Croatian national team, despite not playing a first team game for Dinamo yet.
The Sun claim Arsene Wenger is ready to launch a £6m move for the impressive youngster after seeing Roma fail with a £5m bid last week, and while the Frenchman retains an interest in Ashley Williams he’s refusing to meet Swansea’s £10m asking price and sees Jedvaj as a longer-term option.
Barca confirm Agger interest
Next up and the Express are reporting that Barcelona are lining up a bid for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger after missing out on top target Thiago Silva.
The Catalans are believed to be on the look out for a long-term replacement for Carles Puyol and the report claims Agger has now entered their thoughts after PSG made it clear they aren’t prepared to do business for Brazilian stopper Silva.
Agger has also been linked with a move to newly-promoted Monaco but it’s Barca who look most likely to come in for the Danish international according to the Express, and Liverpool academy chief Rodolfo Borrell has backed the 28-year-old to be a success if he does end up making the move to the Nou Camp:
“Agger has the right characteristics to adapt to Barca’s play,”
“He is a very trustworthy centre-half, above all on the ball, because he comes out very well with it.
“In a style like Barca’s, a defender must have a good pass, make the right decisions, be quick when the team loses the ball and good in the air at set-pieces both in defence and attack. Agger fulfils all these qualities.” Borrell is quoted as saying by the Express
While Martin Skrtel found himself dropped to the bench for much of last season, Agger was a mainstay in Brendan Rodgers starting eleven – making 35 Premier League appearances – so it would be a bitter blow if they were to lose the defender to Barca.
