Higuain Still Wants Arsenal Move But Is Set To Hold Crunch Madrid Talks
Gonzalo Higuain is still keen on joining Arsenal but Carlo Ancelotti has planned to hold talks with the striker to try and persuade him to remain at Real Madrid
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on Gonzalo Higuain’s proposed move to Arsenal.
Gonzalo Higuain is still keen on making a move to Arsenal but Carlo Ancelotti has planned to hold talks with the striker to try and persuade him he’s still got a future at Real Madrid, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca.
The Argentinean hitman has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer and reports last week suggested a £23m move was close, with some even claiming he was set to travel to London last Friday to undergo a medical.
However, Madrid apparently pulled the plug at the last minute and upped their asking price and the Gunners have since turned their attention to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, but their also struggling to make any headway with that deal.
Now, Spanish newspaper Marca are reporting that Higuain is still hoping to secure a move away from Madrid this summer in search of a new challenge, but the La Liga giants are not going to give up without a fight and Carlo Ancelotti has planned to hold talks with the 25-year-old on Monday in a bid to persuade him to remain at the Bernabeu.
This may all boil down to how much the player wants a move. If he’s really determined to leave then in all likelihood, he’ll go this summer. However, Marca are also stating that if Higuain does make it clear he wants to go, the club are still going to demand a fee in the region of £27m for his services.
Will Arsene Wenger be willing to go that high for the Argentinean international? We’ll have to wait and see….
