Tottenham Hotspur entertain Anzhi Makhachkala at White Hart Lane on Thursday night looking to maintain their 100% record in Group K of the Europa League.
Ahead of the game, boss Andre Villas-Boas has been speaking to TottenhamHotspur.com and gave the clubs website the team and injury news including the latest on Danny Rose, Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches.
Rose has been on the sidelines for almost three months after injuring his foot against Tromso back on the 19th September, but he’s now back in training and in contention to return to first team action tomorrow night.
Eriksen picked up an ankle injury while on international duty with Denmark last month and was expected to be out until the New Year, but it looks like he’s back sooner than expected and is also in the frame to feature against Anzhi.
Centre-back Chiriches injured his knee against Fulham last week and it was feared he could could be facing a spell on the sidelines, but Villas-Boas revealed there has been some good news on the defender and he could be back to face Liverpool on Sunday.
AVB said:
“We will look to try and give Danny Rose a couple of minutes in this game and Christian Eriksen is also selected, so there is the possibility that he could play some minutes as well,” said Andre.
“There is a good possibility that Vlad might be available for the game against Liverpool, but not tomorrow,” added Andre.
While there is positive news on Rose, Eriksen and Chiriches, Jan Vertonghen is facing a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury and he join’s Harry Kane and Younes Kaboul on the treatment table.
AVB also confirmed he will continue to rotate his starting eleven as he welcomes the Russian giants to the Lane, and he’s added highly-rated youngsters Laste Dombaxe, Ryan Fredericks, Shaq Coulthirst to the squad and may give them some game-time.
“It has been our pattern in the Europa League to make seven, eight changes or more, it has worked well for us, we have the quality in our squad and have maximum points so far,” said Andre. “We will continue to do that.”
