Liverpool have been handed a major injury blow with defender Daniel Agger confirming on Twitter that he’s set to miss the next four weeks with a calf strain.
The Danish international was forced off inside the opening 15 minutes during the Reds 2-0 win at Anfield with what appeared to be a calf problem.
The 29-year-old had initial scans on Tuesday but they proved inconclusive and the club revealed he would be sent for further examinations to find out the full extent of the injury.
It appears the results are in and unfortunately it’s not good news for Liverpool as Agger has confirmed on his official Twitter page that’s he’s set to be on the sidelines for four weeks.
Disappointed with my injury! But I hope to be back strong within 4 weeks! Thanks for all the supporting tweets. ynwa.

It means the experienced centre-back will miss the Reds games against Stoke City, Aston Villa and the FA Cup clash with Bournemouth, while he’s also likely to miss the Merseyside derby on the 28th of January and will be fighting to be fit for the visit of Arsenal on February 8th.
Agger’s injury leaves boss Brendan Rodgers with limited options at the back with Mamadou Sakho, Jose Enrique, Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan also out with injury.
