By on February 12, 2014

Tottenham Hotspur put in an excellent display to thrash Newcastle 4-0 at St James’ Park on Wednesday night with Emmanuel Adebayor helping himself to a brace.

The visitors opened the scoring when Adebayor was on hand to tap home after Tim Krul had parried a shot before Paulinho made it 2-0 just after half time when he pounced on another spill from the Newcastle keeper.  Adebayor grabbed his second in the 83rd minute before substitute Nacer Chadli fired home a late fourth to put some gloss on the scoreline.

The win sees Spurs keep pace with Liverpool after the Reds beat Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage, but they extend their lead over Manchester United after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Arsenal.
